TORONTO, CANADA March 10, 2010 - iseemedia Inc. (TSX-V: IEE), a leading provider of rich content adaptation and delivery solutions for mobile applications today announced it has received two U.S. patents for "Method and System for Streaming Images to Wireless Devices." First filed October 5, 2004, iseemedia's US Patent No. 7,667,862 granted February 23, 2010 and US Patent No. 7,672,002 granted March 2, 2010, are core enabling patents for streaming of vector graphics that reference raster images for interactive viewing on a mobile device. Patent No. 7,667,862 relates to use of image tags and Patent No. 7,672,002 relates to use of Scalable Vector Graphics ("SVG") group elements. The method and system of this invention can be implemented using a variety of software and hardware architectures, including inter-alia server-side rendering and client-side rendering, and is particularly advantageous for efficiently streaming images to wireless devices. With the rapid evolution of mobile devices along faster data networks, the demand for rich and interactive content delivery is a key driver in mobile data usage. As a result, operators are continuously investing in network and infrastructure upgrades in order to maintain a good "quality of service." Moreover, network optimization is positioned by many as a key factor in keeping up with the high demand. Nevertheless, with the rapid penetration of Smartphones, Apple iPhones, Androids, Netbooks, and the soon to be released Apple's iPad, there is tremendous pressure on the entire value chain, from operators to content providers and developers, to deliver a premium user experience with efficient bandwidth consumption. As a result, Scalable Vector Graphics is seen by many solution providers as key to deliver rich contents to mobile devices in efficient format. Vector graphics (though not SVG in particular) are already used extensively in computing. As an example, most operating system fonts are defined in a vector format so that they can be represented well at widely varying sizes. SVG has all of the advantages of other vector graphic formats with one key difference; it is based on a set of open standards from the World Wide Web Consortium. Additionally, SVG for mobile devices (SVG-T and SVG Basic) is a very useful tool in the mobile web designers' toolbox. Device support is already quite widespread and getting better. Moreover, SVG is seen as a key format for enhancing the Mobile Web and is being used as a key format, or supported in other different formats like Adobe Flash and Web browsers' implementation. As such, iseemedia's newly awarded patents will help us deliver rich content to mobile devices in an optimized approach that takes into consideration the bandwidth consumption, mobile devices capability and enhanced user experience. SVG viewers as a core rich content viewer or in mobile applications can be easily extended to different applications such as Web browsing, content delivery and sharing, and is likely to be an important factor in the space of mobile cloud computing. "Interactive imaging is now found on most mobile devices but the strain on operator bandwidth and network efficiency impacts the mobile user's experience," said Anthony DeCristofaro, President and CEO at iseemedia. "With these patents and others soon to come, iseemedia is now ready and able to monetize its significant R&D investment with technology solutions to support carriers, solution providers and the mobile user experience alike."
