How It Works

iseepublish utilizes an intelligent server-based adaptation technology that automatically converts binary content into a structured format (XML) much more suited for viewing on mobile devices. The iseepublish server dynamically converts magazine and newspaper content from its native PDF, InDesign Interchange or other format into a generic format and then transcodes the converted content into the format best suited for a particular mobile client and device.

Once the magazine or newspaper has been adapted, the server dynamically generates and delivers the hierarchical structure representing the original content providing all the information to determine the reading order for text and graphics on a page or article. The content structure includes the following; Table of Contents (list of Sections and Articles), List of Figures and page thumbnails. These can be used to easily navigate the publication. This hierarchical structure allows the content of the publication to be reformatted and presented according to its logical structure (grouping an article that spans multiple pages) rather than the physical layout on a page.

In addition, the server efficiently generates raster images of each page using iseemedia’s multi-resolution technology, providing an exact representation of the content on mobile devices. The server also generates image maps of all the page elements (articles, images or ads) and provides direct access to the content by making each element an active link.

In order to maintain magazine and newspaper accuracy the server includes content life cycle management, allowing provisioned content to be tested, certified and re-authored if required. The components and framework are made available to internal and external administrators through a secure web console making management and approvals secure and easy. The interface allows administrators of the system to quickly revise or adjust columns, articles, embedded elements, links and navigation.
